The Ohio Graduation Test will take place all next week. Sophomores should report to school at the normal time. Freshman, juniors, and seniors will follow the below schedule.

Attention VHS! We are participating in a project called Reach Out and Read. Do you have old kid’s books at home? Maybe someone else would like them! Bring any new or gently used children’s books to the library and donate them to Reach Out and Read. Share your love of reading and donate today!
Attention female students that are interested in engineering, the University of Akron will be holding the sixth annual Summer Experience in Engineering at the University of Akron. This program is being offered to talented female students entering 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade for the 2010-2011 school year and strives to give students the necessary knowledge, self confidence and motivation to pursue a career in the exciting and diverse field of engineering and give them a first hand look at the University of Akron. Attention VHS
The LEO Club is sponsoring another Canned Food Drive- Take 2 starting this week. The drive will end Monday, March 15. For every 50 points a block 1 class records a ticket will be placed in a drawing to win a St.Patrick's Day Celebration on March 17.
Attention Relay for Life team Members:
There will be a meeting on Thursday, March 11th in room 605 at 2:35 PM. All team members are expected to attend. Please come prepared with your $10 registration fee. Please arrive on time in order that we can expedite the agenda. This is a mandatory meeting.
Students and staff are encouraged to attend this year’s mucical Bye Bye Birdie. This hilarious send-up of the “Elvis” phenom opens Thursday, March 11th and runs thru Friday, March 12th and Saturday March 13th. For ticket information, call 967-8550.
VHS Music Department presents Bye Bye Birdie, March 11th, 12th, and 13th at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $9.00 for adults and $7.00 for students and senior citizens. For ticket information please call Dorothy Millis at 967-8550.
STUDENT SERVICES
Please remember that BGSU PSEOP application deadline for NEW students entering the program for Fall 2010 is Wednesday, March 31st. They must complete the new Web-application available at:

Students continuing in the program must complete an Intent To Continue application by Friday, April 16th. Returning students will be able to begin registering for Fall 2010 classes on Monday, April 12th. Here is a link to the Intent To Continue application:

Students wanting to participate in PSEO through LCCC either at Vermilion High School or at LCCC's campus must pick up an application in the student service office. The deadline for LCCC PSEO is June 15.
The Erie County Master Gardeners Association has announced plans to award a $1000 scholarship to a student entering college and pursuing a degree in horticulture, agriculture or landscaping. Applicants must be an Erie County resident, or a graduate or graduating senior of a high school in Erie County.
Interested candidates should complete an application which can be downloaded from http://erie.osu.edu/master-gardener.org beginning March 1, 2010. Application deadline is March 31, 2010.
Attention Juniors:
It’s time to take your ACT test for college. The deadline to register for the April 10th ACT test is next Friday, March 5th. Register online at www.actstudent.org. See your counselor if you qualify for a fee waiver.
Beginning in 2010, BioOhio is offering four one-time $1,250 scholarships to high school seniors in an effort to encourage and advance bioscience-related education and career interests in Ohio. To be considered for a scholarship, the student must live in Ohio, be a senior or senior-equivalent in good standing, and plan to pursue bioscience-related studies at an Ohio college. Application information is located in student services, and the deadline is March 19, 2010.
Now is the time for college-bound student-athletes that are currently juniors to register with the NCAA Eligibility Center if they plan on participating in college athletics. Early registration promotes positive planning and involvement, bypasses the last-minute rush and helps college-bound student-athletes avoid issues that may delay their academic and amateur certifications. The registration process is easy and can be done by:
- Logging on to the Eligibility Center’s new Web site at : www.eligibilitycenter.org
- Selecting the “Fall 2010 or After” icon;
- Selecting the “New Account” tab at the top of the screen; and
- Beginning the registration process.
Scholarships of $7,500 await 25 outstanding scholar athletes in grade 12 nationwide. If you are a star both in the classroom and on the field, the Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year Award Program may be for you. To find out more, go to bodybymilk.com. Deadline is March 5, 2010.
SPORTS
Anyone interested in trying out for the 2010-2011 cheerleading squads must sign up in the main office and pick up the flyer with more information. The deadline is this Friday! There will be no acceptions due to the amount of time needed to prepare evaluations. Again anyone interested in trying out for the 2010-2011 cheerleading squads must sign up in the main office by this Friday the 12th.
The boys basketball team will play Clearview this Thursday, March 11th at 7:00pm at Westlake High School. Pre-sale tickets are now on sale in the High School main office from 7:30am to 3:30pm running through Thursday, March 11th. Pre-sale adult tickets are $6 and student tickets are $4. All tickets at the door are $6. A portion of the pre-sale ticket revenue is returned to the school. Please come out and support the Boys Basketball Team.
Students interested in playing softball this season can report to the commons at 6:00 PM throughout this week. Practices begin at 6:00 PM and continue to 9:00 PM each night.

BAND
Band Booster’s Rummage Sale/Bazaar March 20, 2010 - 8am-2pm.
The Vermilion Band Boosters will be holding a community rummage sale on Saturday, March 20th at the Vermilion High School Commons. In addition, we will have concessions, a bake sale, and businesses will have tables to rent to sell their merchandise.
All proceeds from the event will be used for the purchase of new marching band uniforms and equipment. Please help to make our event successful.
How you can help be a part in reaching our goal:
* Make a cash donation (stop in the day of the sale or see a director any time).
* Donate items to sell in the rummage sale. Rummage sale items can be dropped off on Friday, March 19th (3 p.m. - 8 p.m. in the VHS Commons).
* Donate baked goods (please label with ingredients). Baked goods can be dropped off by 8 a.m. on Saturday, March 20th. If you can bring baked goods, please email Mrs. Marianne Prete (cubmaster409mp@roadrunner.com) by Thursday, March 18th, letting her know you will bring them.
* Purchase any items or baked goods at our sale.
* Rent a Table for your business: Table Rental - $15 per table for 6 hours. If you are interested in renting a table, please email Mr. Oshaben (Noshaben@vermilionschools.org) or Mrs. Prete (cubmaster409mp@roadrunner.com) ASAP.

Our Night at the Races has been moved to April 10, 2010 from 6-11 at German’s Villa. Please contact drini@roadrunner.com if interested in tickets, advertisement or horses. We are still in need of people to sign up for bingo nights. They are 03-25, 04-19, 04-22, and 04-29. Please contact Marianne Prete at 440-396-7149 or email drini@roadrunner.com. It is important that anyone with cookie money still out please return the funds into Jon Clark. We are still out a significant amount. Our next meeting will be 03-21 at 6pm at the Bingo Hall. We will be allotting monies and planning events for the night of the Prom to Dawn. Please try to attend.
RITTER PUBLIC LIBRARY
Three $100 Prizes!
Every student who plays miniature golf at Ritter Public Library's grand opening will be eligible to win one of three $100 gift certificates for Bicycle Bill's!
The grand opening on Saturday, March 13 begins with a dedication ceremony at noon. The public is invited to enjoy an afternoon of free fun for the whole family including 18 holes of miniature golf inside the library. No reservations are necessary. Golf from 12:45 to 5 p.m. Meet the Cleveland Cavalier's mascot "Moondog" from 1 to 2 p.m. Enjoy a concert for the whole family at 2:15 p.m.
