SAFE TRAVEL TO SCHOOL IS A PRIORITY

The Vermilion Local School District is committed to assisting students with safe travel to and from school. The district works with State and Local agencies to educate students to be alert and obey traffic rules. In 2009 the Vermilion Board of Education joined forces with Vermilion Township and Erie County Regional Planning to promote the Safe Routes to School Plan in our schools. The Plan created by this group has been approved by the State of Ohio, making available grant funds that can be used to build sidewalks and to promote safety. The district has applied for sidewalk grants in several areas of Vermilion, and are awaiting approval by the State of Ohio.
