Mr. Robert Kern

Since 1991, I have been employed as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Cleveland, prosecuting complex financial crimes, computer crimes and computer-facilitated crimes against children.

I am also an instructor in the Criminal Justice Program at Myers University in Cleveland, Ohio Previously, I was a Trial Attorney with the Department of Justice, Tax Division in Washington, D.C. (1984-1987), and a Senior Litigation Counsel for the U.S. Treasury Department in Cleveland (1987-1991).

Goals for Vermilion Schools

Every child deserves the best educational opportunities available, to allow them to achieve and succeed to their fullest potential. To accomplish this, everyone --administrators, faculty, staff, parents and community members must work together to maintain a solid base of financial support for our schools. The School Board must continue to exercise sound financial management, maintain educational progress and achievement, and keep district expenses within responsible budgets.

Community Involvement

I have served the Vermilion School Community in numerous capacities since 1987:
Vermilion Local Schools Board of Education 2002 to present.
Donated Legal Services to incorporate and obtain IRS tax-exempt status for the Vermilion Athletic Boosters, as well as the PTOs at South Street, VIS and Sailorway Schools.
Served on the Building Use Committee which recommended leasing the empty Lake School Building to the YMCA.
Served on Goals 2000 and Goals 2000 Review Committees drafting long-range strategic goals for our schools.
Served as Mock Trial Advisor and Policy Debate Judge at VHS.
Cub Scout / Boy Scout leader.
Trustee and Past President, Vermilion Education Foundation.
